Yankees Win Eighth Straight With 7-2 Win Over Diamondbacks; Rodriguez Hits No. 25June 13, 2007 11:31 p.m. EST

New York, NY (AHN) - The hits just keep on coming for the New York Yankees.
The Bronx Bombers won their eighth straight game Wednesday night after a 7-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Alex Rodriguez hit his major league leading 25th home run, and Hideki Matsui had a three-run blast in the fourth inning that gave the Yankees a 7-1 lead.
Mike Mussina (3-3) pitched 7 2/3 strong innings, recording a season-high seven strikeouts in his first win since May 9. He also is the first major league pitcher to rack up 20 wins in interleague play.
The Yankees have now won 11 of their last 13 games and are a game above .500 at 32-31, the first time they have been there since being 8-7 on April 20.
Jorge Posada also homered in the second inning for the Yankees to tie the score at 1-1.
Bobby Abreu extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a fourth inning single.
Chris Young had given the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Conor Jackson homered in the sixth for Arizona, but that was the last of the offense.
Livan Hernandez (5-4) was bombarded in four innings or work, giving up nine hits and all seven runs while walking five.
